I’ve been busy pecking away at a few new vegan recipes and I’m excited to share this one with you: smoky tempeh bacon. In a shallow dish, combine 15 milliliters (1 tablespoon) of oil, 15 milliliters (1 tablespoon) of soy sauce, 15 milliliters (1 tablespoon) of maple syrup, 2 grams (½ teaspoon) of smoked paprika, 10 milliliters (2 teaspoons) of liquid smoke, and 2 grams (½ teaspoon) of ground cumin. Mix the ingredients well and set it aside. Carefully slice the tempeh into thin strips, approximately 0.5 cm (¼ inch) thick and add it to the mixture, carefully tossing it until each strip is coated evenly. For optimal flavor, let the tempeh marinate for a minimum of 15-20 minutes. Heat 15 milliliters (1 tablespoon) of oil in a big pan over high heat, and cook the marinated tempeh strips on each side for 3-4 minutes until they turn golden brown and crispy. You can also use an air-fryer if you have one. When cooked, season the strips with salt and pepper to taste.
