In the newly-released Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report, over 200 scientists warned that given the countries’ inadequate scale and momentum of climate actions, global warming will likely exceed 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels during this century. Also, limiting the temperature rise to below two degrees Celsius will be a challenge. To ensure a “liveable and sustainable future for all,” global greenhouse gas emissions have to reduce by Nearly 50% within this decade through “rapid and far-reaching” shifts across all sectors and systems. This includes a transition to sustainable healthy diets featuring plant-based foods, such as legumes, coarse grains, vegetables, fruits, seeds, and nuts, which will also provide a range of significant co-benefits, such as enhanced public health and biodiversity conservation. The IPCC is a Shining World Leadership for Lives-Saving-Hero Award laureate. Our sincere gratitude, all IPCC scientists involved. In Celestial delight, may all governments urgently implement a universal vegan food system to secure the survival of all beings on Earth.
