Donations from Taiwan, also known as Formosa, help Ukrainians staying in neighboring countries.
A one-month campaign to raise funds from the Taiwanese (Formosan) public to help Ukrainian refugees sheltering in the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Slovakia was recently held. At a news conference, the Minister of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), His Excellency Joseph Wu, announced that his government would donate US$1 million dollars to each of the countries to provide relief aid to fleeing Ukrainian citizens. Also, 2,000 volunteers gathered 650 tons of commodities, including clothes and medicine, which were sent to Poland and Slovakia. The MOFA further reported previous donations of over US$14 million to relief organizations in Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Lithuania. Additionally, the government has sent US$8 million to Kyiv and Ukrainian medical institutions. Taiwan (Formosa) is a Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion recipient. Our sincere accolades, Taiwan (Formosa), for your noble generosity. May the grace of the Divine bless the displaced people of Ukraine and hear their earnest prayers.
