His Highness Ahmed Al Qasimi, a member of the ruling family in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, is a committed vegan. He established Nabati, hailed as “the UAE’s groundbreaking vegan fast-food chain.” Nabati now has locations in Abu Dhabi and Arjan in Dubai. “So, my wife and I are animal rescuers. Animal welfare’s one of the reasons why I decided to become vegan.” As we’ve learned, His Highness Ahmed Al Qasimi’s vegan restaurant chain, Nabati, is a wonderful resource that serves delicious vegan meals with a menu that is regularly updated. “We’re vegans because we do not agree with or we don’t stand for the process.” “And people think halal means just the slaughter. No. The halal is the entire lifespan of the animal.”Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) shares Her view that veganism aligns with Islamic teachings, especially those outlined in the Hadiths. “But Islam originally – Islam, Muslim, same – was originally vegetarian. Because the Prophet had stated that, oh, don’t eat meat. Don’t eat that animal (person) because if you eat it then that quality of the animal (person) will come into you. The Prophet doesn’t want people to eat animal-people at all. Any killed animal-people are bad for any country. The bad karma will never go away. Will never go away. It will come back later, or now. That’s it. It depends what time sometimes.”His Highness AhmedAl Qasimi is also dedicated to making vegan food that’s delicious, affordable, and accessible to everyone. “We’re vegan because we want to cause the least amount of harm with our food choices. A lot of us are not salad people and just want to enjoy a nice juicy burger like any other person. Comfort food should be something that is affordable and accessible to everyone. We’re trying to make vegan food accessible, affordable and extremely delicious for anybody who wants to try and make better food choices but doesn’t have the opportunity.”
