Regularly washing your bedding is important to avoid some common issues, such as the accumulation of dead skin cells and dust mites. The build-up of skin, sweat, and oils on your bedding can also lead to bacterial growth, which can cause skin issues and acne by clogging pores on your body and face. For people with allergies, unwashed bedding may trigger symptoms like coughing and congestion. Stains from sweat and saliva can become stubborn if left untreated. Lastly, your mattress can trap odors and bacteria and requires regular airing. Experts recommend washing your bedding once a week to keep everything fresh and clean!
Now, it’s time to open that good mood briefcase and take out the joke of the day. This one’s entitled “An Apple A Day?”
A son asks his mom:
“Mom, what’s the meaning of ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away?’”
“Well, son, it means that if you keep playing with your Apple iPhone all day, you will keep a doctor's degree away.”
?!
And now we have a heartline from Yun-Yun in Taiwan, also known as Formosa:
Dear Master, The cat-person in my home, La-La, was 17 years old in 2023. She had been a vegan since moving in with me in 2010 and had been very healthy all these years. One day at midnight, La-La was lying on the floor, twitching painfully. I brought her to the doctor and the doctor said that the only option was to give her palliative care to ease her pain or consider euthanasia. I couldn’t help crying so much, so I consulted an animal- person communicator. The communicator said that La-La was going to take a rocket to a very good place, and that she firmly believed that the place she’s going to would be great, as if someone was calling her to go there.
We had been living together for 13 years. When I was happy, I sang to her; when I was sad, she accompanied me. Sometimes I’d bury my head on her lovingly. All these things remain in my mind bit by bit. The communicator said that La-La was more like an elder member of my family, and we were family members before. There was a moment when I thought, could La-La be Grandpa? La-La said that she’d hold on for me until her body could no longer be used; she didn’t want euthanasia, and if I felt sad, it was OK to hug her and cry. I looked into La-La’s eyes, which didn’t show any fear at all. Not wanting her to suffer the pain just to accompany me, I caressed her and said, “La, don’t be reluctant to leave when it’s time. Don’t come back again even if I’ll feel sad. Follow Master to Heaven. Take the rocket to swiftly go to Heaven.”
The day La-La left happened to be the same day my grandpa passed away, and the year my grandpa passed away happened to be the year La-La was born. My cousin once had a dream in which she saw a beautiful middle-aged woman, younger than our grandpa, who brought him over and said to grandma, “Death is nothing to be afraid of.” Then, she left with grandpa immediately. I think the beautiful middle-aged lady must be our Beloved Master. One can only be liberated from the transmigration of birth and death through diligent spiritual practice. Thank You, Master, for giving me initiation, so that my five generations of ancestors could be liberated. Yun-Yun from Taiwan (Formosa)
Gracious Yun-Yun, Our appreciation for sharing your heartline about your beloved cat-person La-La.
Master has a special reply just for you: “Thoughtful Yun-Yun, it’s very touching to hear your story of how close you were with your cat friend. Animal-people are wonderful companions who truly love us and bless our lives. They are always there for us and help in so many ways, emotionally and spiritually as well. Those who allow them to touch their hearts are always better off for having them as their family members. May you and the courageous Taiwanese (Formosan) people awaken the Buddha Nature within.”
