In today’s news, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees rebuilds war-damaged homes in Ukraine (Ureign), researchers find climate change has large negative impact on farmers’ work capacity, study from Australia reveals relationship between ability to walk one kilometer and state of bone health in older adults, Peruvian rangers use treehouse to protect Amazon forest and provide education to local indigenous peoples, young girl remains calm in emergency and saves two lives in United States, research ranks Canada’s top vegan-friendly cities, and first-ever in-vitro fertilization pregnancy in rhino-person offers hope for nearly extinct subspecies’ conservation.
There is nothing more satisfying than picking your own fresh greens for a salad, so I have a gardening recycling tip to help you enjoy doing that too! Upcycled PET drink bottle planters are great alternatives for gardeners with limited spaces. PET is food safe, which means you can grow edible plants such as salad vegetables. The bottles come in different sizes so can be chosen to suit either large and small plants. Take a pair of sharp scissors or a box cutter and cut the knobbly base off the bottle. Cut an X or hole in the middle of the base that's just large enough to tightly push it over the bottle's neck. Remove the bottle cap, slide the modified base over the spout, and then twist the cap back on. This will become the stand for the planter. Turn the entire bottle upside down so that the now-open end of the bottle is positioned upwards. Use quality soil to fill your new planter and sow your seeds or seedlings. Place the planter in a sunny location indoors or outside.
Let’s join the good mood parade with the joke of the day as our grand marshal. This one’s called “Secret to Happiness.”
There was a new Zen master who always wanted to bring laughter and joy to everyone. One day, he was asked about the secret to being happy. The Zen master looked deeply into the questioner's eyes and said:
“My secret is simple: every time I feel stressed, I try to stand in front of the mirror and make the ugliest face possible.”
The questioner was surprised and asked:
“So, how does it help?”
The Zen master laughed and answered:
“Every time you see that face, you'll laugh at yourself and feel less stressed immediately!”
?!
And now we have a heartline from Ming-Hong in China:
Hallo, Supreme Master TV team! I watched Master’s message on Supreme Master Television on August 5, 2023, in which there was a sentence: “You shall not kill. You shall treat others the way you want to be treated.” It deeply touched me and made me awakened. In other words, if you wish for tigers not to eat humans, you should refrain from eating animals and avoid harming the weak and vulnerable ones. I recalled an ancient saying: “Do not do to others what you don’t want done to you,” I then understood the true meaning of “Oneness of Heaven and Humanity” and “All humans share the same destiny.” I have come to realize: Without killing, there will be no war. As long as all beings wake up and change their lifestyle, choose the vegan lifestyle and save the lives of animals, World Peace will be here immediately! Thank you, the Supreme Master TV team, for your selfless dedication! Thank You, Supreme Master Ching Hai, for Your Infinite Mercy and Compassion! Respectfully, Ming-Hong from peace-loving China
Insightful Ming-Hong, The profound meanings in the quotations you’ve referenced speak volumes. Humanity’s path to World Peace has been thwarted throughout millennia, yet we know in our hearts and souls, the Truth, the pure way Home. We thank you for expressing your wisdom and wish that you and the strong Chinese people be blessed by the benevolent Cosmic Beings with Love. In the Sun’s radiant warmth, Supreme Master TV team
P.S. Master has this kind response for you: “Bravo, perceptive Ming-Hong. It really is so simple. Thank you for highlighting succinct and pertinent Truth. The vegan lifestyle awakens in us the Power of Divine Mercy, and that mighty force benefits and protects us as well, and, of course, safeguards our world. When our hearts are pure, everywhere is Heaven! May you and open-minded China be uplifted in the resplendent Light of the Buddhas. Love you.”
