It’s no secret that the younger demographic is embracing veganism in great numbers. Founded in 2009, the German International Academy at Chennai aims to give students every opportunity to achieve their full potential in life through the joy of learning and love for life. With acute awareness of the urgency of rethinking our relationship with animal-people, the school decided to serve 100% vegan meals and avoid using animal-people products on campus in 2016. A recipient of the Compassionate School Award from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India, the school offers students three meals and a delicious vegan protein snack, vegetables, and fruits, every day.

“We called all the parents, asked them to taste 45 varieties of vegan food and they liked it.” Inspiring and preparing young people to live consciously with the planet, MUSE School boasts a stellar record: It offers 48 field trips and over 260 passion projects to students each year. MUSE School is the first K to 12 vegan school in the United States. Turned 100% plant-based in 2015, it gets students and parents on board for the best solution to climate change. In 2024, MUSE School is the proud recipient of triple awards: the Greenest Restaurant Award, the Sustainable Food Award, and the Greenest K-12 Award.

Founded in 2018 by Free Born Children’s Ministry, now known as LUV4 ALL: Uganda, the primary school is nestled in the district of Kassanda, Uganda. It serves children from Kafuuda, Lwabaaza, Busuula, and Kirundi who otherwise have no access to education. “We try to make our learners learn more (about) what veganism means, and climate, environment, organic farming and other things.” In the same year, 2023, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) honored Atlas Vegan Community School with the Compassionate School Award.
