The mugwort used in TCM is called “Chinese mugwort”. Mugwort leaves contain eucalyptol, a-thujone, and sesquiterpenes that can dispel mosquitoes. The polysaccharides and saponins from the roots can be used to treat asthma, cough, and thick sputum. In addition, they contain adenine, choline, wax, vitamins A,B1,B2, and C, minerals, tannins, proteins, and lipids, which have antioxidizing effects and protect the liver and gallbladder.
