In today’s news, Afghanistan receives additional support from USAID, world’s largest nuclear fusion project reaches milestone, University of Queensland achieves complete decarbonization of its electricity, new study documents impact of climate change on forests, disadvantaged children flourish at Montessori school in Nepal, market analysts predict huge growth in plant-based eating, and newly trained dog leads police to missing mother and child.

USAID supports response to COVID-19 pandemic in Afghanistan.

The cities of Kabul and Herat have recorded more people testing positive for the coronavirus than in other urban areas of the country. At the same time, the public health emergency has caused jobs and food to become scarce. In an effort to ease the situation, the US Agency for International Development (USAID) has contributed US$12 million to the United Nations World Food Programme. Direct cash transfers to 95,000 of the most vulnerable families will give them enough money to cover their basic nutritional needs for two months. The United States is a Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion laureate. Our hearts are gladdened, USAID and World Food Programme, by your ongoing efforts that benefit the resilient Afghan people. May acts of kindness like yours lead the way toward a new world of peace.

International team makes strides in building fusion reactor.

In southern France, engineers and scientists from 35 nations including China, India, Japan, the United States, Russia, Korea and the European Union are collaborating on an experimental power plant that is based on what happens in the core of the sun: hydrogen atoms are forced together by tremendous heat and pressure to become helium. The process, called nuclear fusion, yields four times as much energy as conventional fission reactors, however, it is much safer and produces practically no waste. The construction team recently celebrated receiving the components needed to begin the assembly phase. Because of the size and complexity of the project, it is anticipated to begin producing power in November 2025. Promising news, international physicists! May your excellent spirit of cooperation spread to all corners of the world, in Celestial harmony.

Up next, University of Queensland achieves complete decarbonization of its electricity. We’ll take a moment to thank the school administrative assistants, who help teachers and other personnel with ordering supplies, generating letters and reports, arranging meetings and maintaining the school’s website. Please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television for more comfortable news.

Hi there, I’m Jo Jo the vegan Duck! The earth is transforming and you can too. Just be vegan! Here is a useful tip on the differences between wood chips and bark mulch. Although they both come from trees and can be used as ground cover, there are distinct reasons for choosing one or the other. Wood chips are chunks of branches and trunks, which means they are larger and bulkier than mulch. They last longer and resist compacting, so they are the preferred choice for blanketing walkways and playgrounds. Mulch comes from shredded pieces of bark and organic plant matter. It effectively insulates plant roots and retains moisture, contributing nutrients to the soil as it decomposes. Now, you can select the product that best suits your purpose! Lots of love for Being Veg and Going Green 2 Save the Planet. For all of us humans and all co-inhabitants alike. And thank you for watching. Now, the weather around the world.

Australian institution transitions to 100% solar power.

The University of Queensland began shifting to renewable energy ten years ago when it installed the country’s largest rooftop solar array at its St. Lucia campus. Five years later, it inaugurated a 3.3-megawatt farm at its Gatton location. In summer 2020, thanks to a loan from the state government, the school opened a massive photovoltaic power plant in the town of Warwick. With the addition of this new facility, the university will make more than enough electricity to supply all of its sites. Money that previously went to electric bills is now used to repay the state. This financial strategy serves as a prime example of how organizations can reorient their spending to adopt green technology. The Queensland Government is a Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion laureate. Kudos, University of Queensland, for your visionary commitment to decarbonization. May the world make every possible effort to limit global warming, in God's all-embracing mercy.

Trees in Massachusetts, USA, are storing more carbon now.

A team of two dozen scientists studied 25 years of carbon measurements in the air, soil and water at Harvard University’s ecological research site. A report was compiled showing how carbon circulated through the managed environment over time. The researchers were surprised to discover that climatic conditions caused the trees of Harvard Forest to absorb carbon dioxide almost twice as fast between 1992 and 2015. As temperatures have increased so has rainfall in the area, extending the annual growing season. From a different aspect, the stand of mostly 100-year-old oak trees has benefited from lower levels of pollutants like ozone, sulfur and nitrogen in the air. Auspicious news, Harvard ecologists! We pray that more people will appreciate the vital service that trees provide and safeguard them for the future, in the wisdom of the Providence.

Tuition-free school started by American woman celebrates 10 years.

Maggie Doyne, from New Jersey, USA, went to Nepal when she was 19. She was deeply moved by the people she met and decided to use the US$5,000 she had saved for college to co-found the BlinkNow Foundation and build a home for impoverished children. Two years later, in 2010, Maggie’s organization was able to open a Montessori school as well. Today, there are over 50 kids staying at the philanthropist’s home, and Kopila Valley School in Surkhet is teaching more than 350 students, from nursery to 12th grade. The campus also includes a health clinic, an organic farm, a vocational training center for women and a refuge for at-risk girls. Our heartfelt applause, Maggie Doyne, for your inspiring kindness and life-changing work. May the peace-loving citizens of Nepal be blessed with abundant health and prosperity, in Divine radiance.

Coming up, market analysts predict huge growth in plant-based eating. We will take a few moments to do a brain exercise that will help sharpen our concentration and improve our memory. More encouraging news when we return! Please stay with us here on Supreme Master Television. Welcome back to Noteworthy News - Kind News for an Altruistic World.

Studies indicate people are motivated to abandon animal proteins.

Tastewise, a food data, statistics and analytics firm based in Israel, has produced a report on the upward trend in plant-based eating since the end of 2019. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic sparked soaring sales for healthy, animal-free food products, especially meat substitutes and non-dairy milks. Another market intelligence company, Meticulous Research – which is headquartered in India – has predicted the value of the global plant-based food market will grow at least 76% to US$74.2 billion by 2027. They cite Tofurky, which sells 35 different meat alternatives, as a key example. In May 2020, sales of its vegan ham were up 631% compared to the previous year! Three cheers, Tastewise and Meticulous Research, for your fascinating insights into consumer behavior. May the plant-based market soon be the only food market on the planet, in Heavenly jubilation!

Rookie police dog and partner save the day in United Kingdom.

A 2-year-old German Shepherd mix named Max had just completed his training and received his license when the Dyfed-Powys police received word of a missing mother and child. Max and his partner, Police Constable (PC) Peter Lloyd, were dispatched to a mountain road where the woman’s car was found and began to search the wooded area. After about an hour and a half of following Max, PC Lloyd saw a woman waving for help. The mom and her baby had gotten stuck on the edge of a ravine and needed to be helped down. A medical team determined that although the two were cold from being outdoors so long, they were otherwise in good condition. Big thanks and Heaven bless you hero Max. May you continue assisting our world with your selfless spirit of devotion as you and your trusted partner Police Constable Peter Lloyd have many fulfilling years together, assisting the police in their noble work of saving lives, in Heaven’s love. Supreme Master Ching Hai: “Joyfully present the Shining World Hero Award to Max, plus US$2,000 for vegan treats, with all love, hugs and happy praises. Also, special thanks to Police Constable Peter Lloyd and others involved in search and rescue efforts. May Heavens forever shield you and all those you help.

We know you’ve been waiting for a chance to chuckle today. So, here’s a funny joke called, “A Selfless Prayer.”

Little Danny had been misbehaving all afternoon, so his mother told him to go to his room and stay there. About an hour later, Danny came out, approached his mother and said: “Mom, I was thinking about my behavior today and decided to say a prayer.”

“Good boy, Danny! If you ask God to help you not misbehave, I’m sure He will.”

“Oh, I didn't ask Him to help me not misbehave. I asked Him to help you tolerate me!”

And now we have a heartline from Fanno in Indonesia:

Dear Beloved Master Ching Hai, My name is Fanno; I am 10 years old. I have been a vegan since I was in the womb. I really love You, Master, and I hope You are in the best of health and are willing to stay longer in this world to guide us. Thanks, my Beloved Master. Fanno from Indonesia

Young Fanno, We appreciate reading your message, and Supreme Master Ching Hai has a reply for you: “Delightful Fanno, it warms my heart to know that from the beginning of life, you and those with vegan mothers were blessed to be nurtured with a pure diet that never causes harm to our beloved animal friends. Love you too, and thank you for your kind thoughts. Remember, the inner Master will always guide you. May God bless you and the vibrant Indonesian people with the faith and wisdom to walk the Divine path, and may all Indonesia soon know the joy of being vegan.”
