Today’s useful tip is about properly storing strawberries to reduce food waste and extend their lifespan, since they are seasonal and expensive. Start by sorting through your strawberries and removing any moldy ones, as these may cause others that they come into contact with to go bad as well. Then add your berries to a bowl with a cup (240 milliliters) of white vinegar and three cups (720 milliliters) of water. The vinegar assists in clearing the bacteria present and inhibits any further development. Allow the mix to sit for ten minutes and drain the bowl after that. You don’t need to wash or rinse the strawberries following this. Next, thoroughly dry the berries and then store them in a container with a cotton towel on the bottom. You can also add another towel on top for good measure. Lastly, set the container in the fridge and these berries should last you for a couple of weeks!
Now, it’s time to let the joke of the day connect you to the world of laughter. It’s entitled “Profession.”
Two children are talking to each other on the playground:
“What does your father do?”
“My father contributes toward a cleaner society.”
“Oh, cool. Is he a policeman?”
“No, he is not a policeman.”
“Oh. Is he a judge?”
“No, he is a soap manufacturer.”
?!
And now we have a heartline from Ivana in the Czech Republic:
I would like to share my experience of how we are taken care of. Once, I went for a bicycle ride on my favorite route. Halfway up the hill, there is a spot in the middle of the fields with a view of the castle that I love and where I usually take a meditation break. I sat down there with the expectation that I would meditate for an hour. That day, there was a strange black cluster of clouds in the distance. After some time, something made me get up and urged me to leave. I was surprised that I had only meditated for 20 minutes. I wanted to sit down and continue, but I felt a strange uneasiness. So, I figured that my concentration wouldn’t be worth much and got on my bike.
I rode slowly home, even missed a turn and took a different route down to the town. It started to get windy and when I got home and wanted to take my dog-person companion out, I couldn’t. The wind had picked up so much that the inside door was vibrating, even though I had all the windows closed. It was dark outside, windy and pouring heavy rain.
The next day, I rode the same way and couldn’t stop wondering. Uprooted mature trees lay on the slopes and across the road. The roads were impassable. I couldn’t even get out of the forest. I took a different route and always encountered other roadblocks, other trees across the road. It was already dark when I got home. What danger I could have been in if I had been a few minutes late yesterday. I realized how protected we are, how well taken care of. And sometimes we don't even know it.
Thank You, Supreme Master Ching Hai, for Your protection and guidance on my way and on my spiritual path. Thank You, God, for the opportunity to follow Supreme Master. With gratitude, Ivana from the Czech Republic
